Focus on youth - opening a door to the future
We are a group of motivated people who channel their energies and spare time to make a difference in the lives of young people. who come from different backgrounds - housewives, office workers, etc. But we have one goal - to assist able and disabled young people to realize their full potential. We are the volunteers behind Focus on Youth and we have a strong sense of community and commitment.
Focus on Youth is a not for profit, community based organization which has been providing assistance to able, disabled and underprivileged youth within the Brisbane and the Western regions for the past 25 years.
How can we help you? - Youth Services
Our Program is offered to able, disabled and underprivileged youth. Because it is volunteer based, our services are only available on weekends and school holidays.
What we offer
We offer camps four times a year, an annual tour to Northern Queensland, weekend events twice a month, fundraising activities once a month, a "Point Program" for all the youth throughout the year, membership facilities, a special needs program, counseling through networking groups, first aid and CPR training, Certificate approved.
Our services are available to young people between the ages of 11 and 20.
Focus on Youth is fully equipped
We have a 22 seater Coaster bus, camping equipments, canoes, safety equipments, sporting equipments and a fundraising and camping trailer.
Volunteer Program
Most of out volunteers are carers. If you are over 18 years of age and want to make a difference in the lives of young people, as well as trying something rewarding - we would love for you to come and work and interact with our young people.
Our volunteers also provide support in other areas such as administration, management committee, fundraising etc.

Our Objectives
- To ensure that children and young people of the same age group, whether abled or disabled are able to participate in planned events, as well as learning from each other and helping with each other's needs.
- To provide necessary support to adults with disabilities through integration with other members of the same age within the Focus on Youth Program.
- To provide, where possible, support to the families and friends of all children, youths and adults within the organization
- To treat each person as an individual in accordance with their individual needs and requirements
- To supply the necessary volunteer staff for each of the programs planned for youths and adults
